Terms and conditions

Last updated November 3, 2026. By using HCPCS Data you agree to what follows. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

This is not medical, billing, coding or legal advice. It is a reference built from a public data file. Coverage, documentation and payment rules vary by payer and change over time. Verify against the current CMS release and your payer's policy — for Medicare, your MAC — before you submit a claim or make a clinical or financial decision.

What this service is

HCPCS Data publishes the 2026 HCPCS Level II code set — codes, modifiers, descriptions, Medicare coverage status, pricing indicators and code history — as web pages, bulk downloads and a Model Context Protocol server. It is operated by Anas Lakhanias a free project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the American Medical Association, or any payer.

The data, and what you may do with it

HCPCS Level II codes are produced by the US federal government and are not subject to copyright, so you may use the code data here — including the bulk downloads — in your own work, products and research, without permission or payment.

CPT (Level I) codes are a separate code set owned by the American Medical Association. They are not included here, and nothing on this site grants you any right to use them.

The site's own source code is open source under the MIT licence — see the licence page. Original writing on the site, such as the explanations of coverage statuses, remains the work of its authors; the MIT licence covers it as part of the repository.

Accuracy

The data is transcribed from the CMS HCPCS Level II release and is published on a best-effort basis. It may contain errors, it may lag behind quarterly CMS updates, and it may be incomplete. No guarantee is made that any code, description, coverage status, pricing indicator or date here matches the current official record.

If you spot something wrong, please report it — corrections are the most useful contribution anyone can make.

Acceptable use

You may browse, search, download the published files, and connect the MCP server to your own tools. Please do not attack the site, attempt to break into it, or hammer it with automated requests at a rate that degrades it for other people — the bulk files exist precisely so you do not have to scrape. Do not present the site as your own or imply it is official.

No warranty, and limits on liability

The site, the data and the downloads are provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy. The site may be changed, broken or taken offline at any time without notice.

To the fullest extent the law allows, Anas Lakhaniand the project's contributors are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site or the data, including denied claims, lost revenue, penalties, or any indirect or consequential loss. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Third-party links, ads and AI tools

Pages may link to CMS, to AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity or Grok, and to support platforms, and the site may display advertising. Those services have their own terms and privacy practices and are outside our control. Answers produced by an AI assistant from a prompt copied here are that assistant's output, not ours, and should be checked against the code details on the page.

Changes, law and contact

These terms may be revised; the date at the top changes when they are, and every edit is visible in the public source history. Continuing to use the site means you accept the current version. See also the privacy policy. Questions can go through the contact page.
